Agricultural Bearings: Harrows, Balers & Mower Supports

Farm equipment combines slow, dirty ground-working duty with faster belts, rollers and cutting spindles. Disc-harrow square bores, baler rollers, auger supports and mower spindles must be treated as separate interfaces. A basic bearing number or an equipment brand is not a fitment specification.

Keep the evidence with the model shortlist

The models on this page illustrate bearing roles; they are not confirmed replacements for an unspecified machine. Keep the original complete marking, machine position, load and speed duty, temperature, lubricant and mounting arrangement together. Check the candidate's recorded values below and leave unreported parameters unknown.

Define the duty

What matters in this application

Disc harrows and ploughs

Measure round, square or hexagonal shaft geometry, flanges and sealing. A 25 mm round-bore insert does not replace a similarly sized square-bore agricultural bearing.

Balers and augers

Include crop wrapping, belt or chain forces, intermittent overload and dirt ingress. Check the housing and locking system.

Mower and cutting spindles

Identify the bearing pair, spacers, shaft retention and blade loading. Do not infer the replacement from mower brand alone.

Choose an architecture

Which bearing structures make sense?

Sealed agricultural units

Investigate purpose-designed sealing and mounting for field contamination.

Check first: Generic shields do not establish adequate soil/water exclusion.

Mounted ball or roller supports

Useful for specified roller and auger positions after load and mounting checks.

Check first: A unit must match shaft locking, housing height, bolt pattern and required grease.

Spindle bearing pairs

Review for cutting shafts and rotating equipment.

Check first: Retain spacers and axial settings; belt and blade reactions both matter.

Compare the recorded specifications

Different sizes and bearing structures are shown for different duties. C and C₀ are catalogue load ratings, not permissible equipment loads. Limiting speed is not an approved operating speed.

From shortlist to specification

Work through the selection

  1. Identify the exact shaft position and record every marking and mounting dimension.
  2. Separate field contamination, impact and belt/chain reactions from steady running load.
  3. Check bearing and housing ratings, shaft locking, seals and the specified grease.
  4. Restore guards and use the equipment's alignment and commissioning procedure.
Investigate before replacing

Symptoms worth checking

Loose insert or fretted shaft

Inspect shaft wear and the specified locking arrangement.

Dirt-filled grease or repeated seizure

Check sealing, purge practice and crop wrapping before replacing the same design.

Symptoms are investigation prompts, not a diagnosis. Isolate equipment safely and follow its maintenance procedures before inspection.

Common questions

Application questions, answered

Can a standard UC205 replace a disc-harrow bearing?

Not by bore size alone. Harrow bearings may have square/hex bores, special flanges and specialized seals. The general UC205 reference is not a harrow approval.

Are the listed units compatible with a named mower or baler?

No equipment fitment is claimed. Confirm the complete part number, dimensions, arrangement and service specification.

Can field-roller wooden bearing blocks be replaced by ball bearings?

Not by matching bore alone. A wooden or other plain block has different housing, lubrication, contamination and alignment requirements. Converting a cultipacker or land roller needs an engineered support arrangement; the listed ball-bearing units are not direct replacements.
