Bearing shaft & housing fit selection tables
Find manufacturer reference fit zones by bearing type, shaft diameter and load direction. Keep shaft fits, housing fits and bearing-ring tolerances separate.
Check the fit conditions
Reference fit zones
> 18 to 100 mm
One-piece or split housing. Outer ring can move axially; verify the non-locating arrangement.
Scope: cylindrical-bore radial bearings, JTEKT Tables 9-4 (1) and (2). Lower-case zones describe the shaft; upper-case zones describe the housing bore. A bearing inner ring is not an H7 machined hole. These zones are not final clearance or interference values.

Before specifying the machining limits
Classify load relative to each ring
A shaft rotating does not alone define every ring's loading condition. Determine whether the force direction rotates relative to each ring, and whether it changes or reverses.
Confirm the load category
Light, normal and heavy are manufacturer selection categories, not names to choose by intuition. Establish equivalent load, rating, shock duty and the applicable manufacturer's load criteria before using the zone.
Check the structure and thermal duty
Hollow shafts, thin housings, light-alloy materials, tapered bores, sleeves and precision spindle bearings need separate guidance. Split housings are not interchangeable with the one-piece housing conditions shown.
Calculate the actual fit stack
Use shaft and housing size limits together with the actual bearing bore / outside-diameter tolerances. Then check surface finish, creep resistance, mounting forces and resulting operating clearance.
