Crossed roller bearings: types, dimensions & brand filters
Alternating roller orientations can support radial, axial and moment loads in a compact arrangement.

What is this bearing type?
Crossed roller bearings arrange adjacent cylindrical rollers at right angles to one another. This geometry can support radial load, axial load in either direction and tilting moment in a compact rotary support.
| Part or design | What it does | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Alternating rollers | Provide differently oriented load paths. | Do not confuse this with a conventional cylindrical roller bearing. |
| Ring arrangement | Controls assembly and mounting. | Check which ring rotates and how the rings are secured. |
| Cage / separator / full complement | Different internal constructions are available. | Use the exact load and speed limits, not a family-wide value. |

Variants that change the answer
Open, sealed and mounting-hole versions are offered in different series. Full-complement construction is associated with heavier-load, lower-speed duty compared with appropriate separated-roller alternatives.
What the family name cannot tell you
Moment capability depends on the selected bearing and its mounting support. A single crossed roller bearing is not automatically an approved replacement for an existing two-bearing system.
Identify the exact part before comparing
- Record the complete series, accuracy and preload designation.
- Compare radial, axial and moment duty alongside the mounting dimensions.
- Verify ring support and clamping requirements before evaluating a substitute.
