Bottom Bracket Bearing Model Reference: 6806, GXP, DUB & Hope

Compare a bottom-bracket bearing by exact part number, ring geometry and its named assembly. A 6806, a dedicated 24×37 mm bearing, a stepped GXP bearing and a DUB-compatible service bearing are distinct records. Matching one or even three nominal dimensions does not approve interchange.

Verified cartridge sizes and exact service-part identifiers

Dimensions are in millimetres and preserve the maker's nominal labels. The width column refers to the outer-ring/body width in the GXP row; its extended inner ring is separately identified. These five records are Enduro bearings specified by Wheels Manufacturing, not a claim about every original-equipment bottom bracket.

Named Wheels assemblies: drive-side and non-drive-side parts

This is a manufacturer-scoped service matrix, not a universal crank compatibility chart. DS means drive side and NDS means non-drive side. Spacers, covers and installed width still belong to the complete assembly.

GXP, DUB and 24 mm: the differences a size-only search misses

In the listed Wheels GXP assemblies, the 24 mm drive-side bearing and 22 mm non-drive bearing are not mirror-image copies. The NDS bearing has an extended inner ring. Replacing it with a plain equal-width cartridge would discard an essential geometric distinction.

The SB-6806/29 source uses a nominal 29 mm bearing description. That catalogue label is retained here; it is not a tolerance specification or a measurement of the crank. Verify the exact DUB-compatible assembly instead of treating every bearing sold under DUB as identical.

For the Wheels BB86/92-BB assembly, the recorded 24 mm version uses replaceable SB-24X37-1 bearings. Its pack includes two dust seals, two 0.5 mm and two 1.0 mm spindle spacers. Supplied quantities are not an instruction to install every spacer.

Hope threaded bottom brackets: identify the correct service family

Hope's threaded range uses replaceable cartridges. Its 24 mm and 30 mm documents identify different service families; the spindle size alone is not the full bearing envelope. The current PF41 range is a separate cup system, including a dedicated 30 mm version with custom bearings.

Do not label Hope BSA30 as BB30 simply because both mention a 30 mm spindle. First identify whether the frame is threaded, PF41 or another press-fit arrangement.

Ceramic versus steel, angular contact and ABEC: compare separate properties

Use the named radial and angular-contact records above as a concrete comparison. A best-bearing recommendation needs the correct fit first, followed by the riding conditions and the exact construction. This reference does not turn manufacturer material claims into independent endurance or watt-loss results.

PropertyUseful comparisonWhat it does not establish
Radial versus angular-contact designCompare the specified load direction and assembly orientation. The same 30×42×7 envelope does not erase the design difference.
ABEC 3 versus ABEC 5Compare the published precision grade for the exact product.A higher label alone is not evidence of lower installed drag or longer cycling life.
Steel versus ceramic-labelled constructionVerify which components are ceramic, plus the rings, seals and grease. No universal value-for-money or speed winner follows from the material label.
Seal and grease packageCompare protection and maintenance needs for the actual conditions.A long unloaded hand-spin is not a controlled test of performance in the bicycle.

Where this reference deliberately stops

Trek's GXP oversized BB90/BB95 V2 product record gives conflicting bore figures in its description and specification fields. It identifies a 37.1 mm outside diameter and 8 mm width, but this batch does not publish a resolved bore or approve an oversized repair. Do not press an oversize bearing into a normal seat based on the model name.

A bicycle brand, groupset name or family label does not establish a complete replacement kit. Exact Cannondale, Trek Madone, Shimano 105/XT/Ultegra, Campagnolo, FSA, SRAM, Praxis and other generation-specific replacements remain subject to their own documented assembly. Missing information is not filled with a generic 6806 recommendation.

Observation is not diagnosis

What the evidence can — and cannot — tell you

Same d×D×BA dimensional candidate only.Confirm seal, contact design, inner-ring extension and assembly approval.
Drive versus non-drive sideSome systems need different parts on each side.GXP is a clear example; preserve the side designation.

A practical investigation sequence

01

Identify and record

Read the full part number on the bottom bracket and the crank, then label drive and non-drive positions.

02

Check the context

Use exact millimetre fields to narrow the verified cartridge table; blank fields leave that dimension unrestricted.

03

Verify before acting

Cross-check the named assembly table and any special inner-ring or seal instruction. Do not collapse nominal 29 mm service-part notation into an unverified measured tolerance.

04

Keep the decision traceable

Keep unknown suffixes, legacy parts and repair-fit claims unresolved until a model-specific source confirms them.

Capture the information a model search cannot guess

Keep this checklist with your inspection or comparison. Checking a box only records that you have collected the item; it does not certify the bearing.
