Keep the evidence with the model shortlist
The models on this page illustrate bearing roles; they are not confirmed replacements for an unspecified machine. Keep the original complete marking, machine position, load and speed duty, temperature, lubricant and mounting arrangement together. Check the candidate's recorded values below and leave unreported parameters unknown.

What matters in this application
Gear forces
Use pitch diameter, gear type, helix angle, mesh position and duty cycle to obtain forces and support reactions.
Locating strategy
Define which support carries thrust and which permits thermal growth. Check axial forces generated by tapered bearings as well.
Lubricant delivery
Verify operating viscosity, oil level, flow path and filtration for every shaft speed, including cold starts.
Which bearing structures make sense?
NU cylindrical roller bearings
Useful radial-support architecture when axial growth must be accommodated.
Check first: An NU bearing must not be assigned the gear's axial locating load.
Opposed tapered roller bearings
An option for combined loading and a settable axial arrangement.
Check first: Bearing setting, preload/endplay and thermal response are part of the design.
Spherical roller bearings
Investigate for heavily loaded supports with alignment demands.
Check first: Permissible misalignment, minimum load and surrounding seals remain limiting factors.
Recommended starting points
These candidates illustrate specific roles and envelopes, not a ranked list or interchangeable set. Review each condition before using a model in a design.

Work through the selection
- Turn the gear duty cycle into radial and axial loads, including reversals, start-up and transient peaks.
- Calculate support reactions and shaft deflection for the actual mesh and bearing positions.
- Choose a locating/floating or adjusted arrangement; check fatigue life, static safety and minimum load.
- Validate hot clearance or preload, oil delivery, housing stiffness and assembly instructions.
Symptoms worth checking
Edge-loaded raceways
Inspect shaft deflection, housing alignment and bearing-seat geometry.
High temperature after rebuild
Check axial setting, cold-to-hot clearance and oil quantity/viscosity.
Debris and repeated early damage
Trace contamination to the gear and oil system; inspect filters, flushing and seal condition.
Symptoms are investigation prompts, not a diagnosis. Isolate equipment safely and follow its maintenance procedures before inspection.

Application questions, answered
Can NU 215 carry the helical gear's axial thrust?
An NU design allows relative axial displacement and is not the axial locating bearing. The arrangement needs a separate, correctly rated thrust-location path.
Is a higher dynamic rating always better?
No. Space, stiffness, minimum load, speed, loss and lubrication can govern. Compare ratings only with the appropriate life method and complete arrangement.
Are 30205 and 32210 alternatives for one seat?
No. They are different shaft and housing envelopes, shown as design starting points rather than drop-in replacements.
