Forklift Mast Bearings: Roller Geometry & Load Checks

Mast and carriage bearings run against defined tracks and carry forces through their studs or shafts. They should not be selected as ordinary radial bearings by bore and outside diameter alone. Forklift wheel and mast positions are separate applications.

Keep the evidence with the model shortlist

The models on this page illustrate bearing roles; they are not confirmed replacements for an unspecified machine. Keep the original complete marking, machine position, load and speed duty, temperature, lubricant and mounting arrangement together. Check the candidate's recorded values below and leave unreported parameters unknown.

Define the duty

What matters in this application

Track contact

Record roller profile, rolling diameter, flange geometry and mating mast rail.

Mounting

Identify stud or shaft support, shoulder location, fasteners and axial adjustment.

Duty

Use the load-centre geometry, lift height, side loads, impact and the approved rated-load envelope.

Choose an architecture

Which bearing structures make sense?

Mast guide rollers

Use the exact track and mounting specification.

Check first: A different crown or flange profile can change contact loading and guidance.

Carriage/combined rollers

Evaluate their radial and axial guidance functions together.

Check first: Do not replace a combined roller with a simple ball bearing.

From shortlist to specification

Work through the selection

  1. Identify the exact mast or carriage position and original roller part.
  2. Inspect rail wear, roller profile and retention before selecting a replacement.
  3. Verify rated-load and guidance requirements using the equipment documentation.
  4. Follow the forklift maintenance and release-to-service process.
Investigate before replacing

Symptoms worth checking

Jerky movement

Check track condition, roller adjustment and alignment as well as bearing damage.

Uneven roller wear

Inspect the load path, rail geometry and roller profile.

Symptoms are investigation prompts, not a diagnosis. Isolate equipment safely and follow its maintenance procedures before inspection.

Have the original designation?

Common questions

Application questions, answered

Can outside diameter identify a mast bearing?

No. Width, track profile, stud/shaft geometry and guidance requirements must also match.

Does this page provide forklift-model fitment?

No. It explains selection inputs and the limits of generic records; approved equipment parts must be verified separately.
