A same-model comparison should make differences easier to inspect, not hide them behind a single equivalent label. Use the following checklist whenever products from several manufacturers share a principal designation.

1. Confirm identity and dimensions

Record the full designation exactly as marked. Confirm bore, outside diameter and width, then check any locating features such as flanges, snap-ring grooves, tapered bores or extended inner rings.

2. Decode construction

Compare rolling-element arrangement, contact angle, seal or shield type, cage design and ring material. For mounted units, include housing style, locking method and seal arrangement.

3. Compare operating capability

Review dynamic and static ratings, fatigue load limit, reference and limiting speeds, temperature range and lubricant. Note whether a figure applies to an open, sealed or specially lubricated variant.

4. Verify fit and internal condition

Check tolerance class, radial internal clearance, preload and recommended shaft and housing fits. A nominally matching bearing can run hot or lose life if the mounted clearance is wrong.

5. Document the decision

Keep the manufacturer data revision, selected suffix and any assumptions used in the comparison. If a parameter is missing, treat it as unverified rather than equal. For safety-critical or high-value equipment, obtain application approval before substitution.

BearingScope automatic comparison gives one dimension-compatible candidate per loaded brand and leaves differing fields visible. It is designed to shorten the shortlist while preserving the engineering checks that make a replacement defensible.
